Social Phobia

Medium: Mixed Reality (MR) Ceramic Installation
Experienced via: Meta Quest 3
Core Core Interaction: This artwork does not involve gesture or touch interaction. Viewers wear the Meta Quest 3 to observe how the physical ceramic sculptures overlap with virtual elements—flowing water, blood, blood bags, and IV tubes—within the same spatial environment.

Theme:Social Phobia is an observational MR ceramic installation composed of two physical ceramic sculptures and virtual imagery. Viewed through the Meta Quest 3, the two physical sculptures are imbued with a highly metaphorical virtual animation: the teapot above continuously pours a stream of golden water, which gradually turns into red blood as it enters the teacup head below. The blood seeps, flows, and drips from the teacup head. A portion is collected by a blood bag and an IV tube, while the rest spreads downwards along the exhibition pedestal, ultimately creating the visual sensation of blood gradually submerging reality.

The artwork explores a specific fear within interpersonal relationships: some individuals act as “blood bag seekers.” They actively hunt for the vulnerabilities, traumas, voids, and emotional needs of others, precisely approaching, occupying, and exploiting these spaces. Rather than merely inflicting direct harm, they breach defenses and forge dependency, transforming the other person into a continuous supply source for emotion, love, attention, and energy. The blood flowing back into the humanoid teapot’s body through the tubes signifies that the extracted emotion and life force ultimately become the nourishment that sustains the manipulator.
